Miho's 2nd Visit

Miho was one of the first portraits i posted on this blog. For some reason i get about 100 spam comments a day on that post, it's hard to battle. She is in the states for a friend's wedding in LA. She says they married (and already had a baby) because of me. Ha! not so sure that is the case, but it is cool anyway. He met his wife the night she gathered a bunch of friends and all went out for karaoke for my visit.

thanks for stopping by the office, miho.

Back at the Office

Knee injury update:Still don't know what is wrong. MRI in a few weeks, orthopeadic surgen shortly after. Limping, crutches, and taxi rides till further notice.

This is not a proper introduction of our new office mate, Caitlin. Something better will follow.

me. me. me.

i need to see some friends so i can put up photos of them.

Australia, FAIL.

I tried to tell myself it was still possible - "b, you can just get a emergency exit seat take lots of drugs and when you get to AU just chill out in the outback while the crew runs around with the koala bears". But the fact that i still can't put pressure after the weekend and just two days before the flight makes that just a ridiculous idea. I'm sure i would only do more damage to my knee. sigh, i'm salty. I promised Q i would come see her when she left 6 months ago.

Maybe we can catch up by going to Portland together in the fall?

Now lets hope the $90 i spent on trip insurance pays off since there is absolutly no refunds or exchanges for my ticket.

The Balcony Project

Mari happened upon a nice little portrait project titled The Balcony Project. It may be the best way to save money and hang with friends ever. People come over to her place with a bottle of wine/liquour and they sit and talk, one on one, while she takes a few snaps of them. She gets to stay home catch up with old friends, get to know new ones a bit better all while drinking for free. This is my portrait from friday night:

About Mari's influence:

Mari inspired us to not forget that we are moving to NYC. See, Blazey and I made plans to move to new york after a year of being roommates in columbus (2004) but within the first 6 months things got comfortable and we were less focused on getting out. Well, Mari comes along and starts talking about New York this and New York That. Just about the same time I head to the city with Fitch for a video project and immediately remember that Blazey and I have no choice, we have to go. Seeing mari pick up and go made it easier for us to realize we can do it as well.

Once mari was here she became the most valubal reasourse we had. We chatted on line all the time. Blazey and I's first visit to nyc together was a random last minute friday afternoon decision to drive up with a friend from cleveland (photo gallery of the trip). That was the trip that got us both back on board and 3 months later we packed up and headed east. The rest is history documented on flickr.

More random things about mari and moving to nyc

It could be worse

Nearly fell off my Vespa this morning. I was getting in the left hand lane when i hit one of those painted white lines in the road. The road was a bit and those paint lines are extremely slippery which led me to lose control of my bike. I prevented hitting the ground extending my leg to the pavement (bad idea). At the time i felt like it was broken. I sat on the side of the road in the largest amount of pain i've had in a long while. After about 5 minutes then i got the idea to call someone. Blazey or 911? 911 or Blazey? Blazey would freak out so i called 911 instead. I spoke with someone for about 8 seconds and just told them never mind and hung up. I think it was because i could move my leg and feet so i figured it wasn't broken therefor not emergency enough for 911.

Some fellas finally asked if i needed anything but i told them i was good and proceeded to get back on my bike and head down flushing to the office. I wasn't sure if i was going to the hospital or to work still. A few blocks down i realized i had to go to the emergency room ASAP and i would need my insurance card, which i didn't have. Now i pull over and call Blazey tell him to find out our insurane and meet me in front of the office in 5 mins.

Blazey meets me for the hand off of the bike and insurance info and i head to the hospital. I find out nothing is broken just maybe a tear or something.

I'm just hoping i'm good by wednesday.

ps: mom, they didn't give me powerful pills so don't worry. but i do have a bunch left over from my back so maybe you should...

Morning with Ella

I picked up a couple pairs of kicks in Chicago this weekend. These here are yet another pair of chucks i shot while riding to work. I was going for this pair of all silver hi-tops at a place in Hyde Park called Akira but I was a bit too late and they were completely out of my size. ps. i need some serious programing help with my blog. i have a new idea brewing but i can't seem to make it work.

Weekend Trips

On my way to work this morning I thought about a few places I want/need to visit before the year is up and i came up with this little map:

1. Maine I've only had lobster a hand full of times in my life. It started two years ago with surf and turf in up state new york and since then i've been on a mission to eat the best possible lobster i can. I feel like maine is the only place i can make this happen.

2. Portland It seems like portland is getting cooler and cooler by the day. So many people i know have been or are going or have said amazing things about the city. I'm curious. The only problem is I don't know anyone there. I should find befriend some folks on flickr. If anyone wants to go, holler at me.

3. Houston, TX Little Cuz and best from back in the day live here. I need to see them asap (by asap i mean as soon as it isn't hot)

4. The OC My boy spence is moving out there this week and I think a trip to cali with blazey could be fun.

Thats all for this year I think.

Twenty-Five Years!

That is a long time. Q. Why do we call Snipper Snipper?

I don't know. That is just what we've always called him.

Answer via Ma:

I don't know why he has the nick-name Snipper but that is what his father called him. I thought Snipper was a good affectionate name for you kids to call him since you and Ebony already called someone daddy.

Exchange.009: Where I'm From

New mix up on Muxtape & also available for download at Rapidshare.

Jen | Hip-Hop - Dead Prez Panama | Kryptonite (I'm On It) - Purple Ribbon All-Stars BK | Lifted - John Legend feat. J. Ivy Sam | Heard It All Before - Sunshine Anderson George | Don't See Us - The Roots Liz | Orange County Girl - Gwen Stefani Eyejammy | Everyday (Rudebwoy) - Kardinal Offishall feat. Last week's mix was all about biggie which got me thinking how it's interesting how Big is essentially a local artist where i live now. Which led to wondering who came from the backyards and hoods of my fellow exchange mixtape contributers?

Jen: Florida Panama: Atlanta Me: Springfield, Ohio Sam: North Carolina (i had to look that up on wiki) George 2.0: Philly Liz: Cali Eyejammy: ( ? I was expecting to get hip to some dope toronto/fillipino cat, ha) Marcia: Gary, Indiana OJ: I'm going going back back to cali cali Cye: Netherlands (right?) Ouxu: Haarlem, Netherlands

My next choice was Roger Troutman aka the origial T-Pain. (he used the talk box, the thing that snoop is singing through in his Sexual Eruption video)

Eyejammy | The What - The Notorious B.I.G. feat. Method Man Kate | Juicy - The Notorious B.I.G.

Ok, I'm excited about this mix cause it's all about bedstuy brooklyn. (okay, maybe not all about my hood but it's biggie and biggie is from 'round the way so...) I picked the remix to Lean Back for a couple reasons:

1. I figured someone would have taken one of these tracks: I Got a Story to Tell, Suicidle Thoughts, and Big Poppa the JD remix which is my all time favorite Big track. I want to post them all for you to listen but I'm at the airport and the connecgtion is hella slow.

2. I love the part "WHERE BROOKLYN AT? WHERE BROOKLYN AT?"

3. I didn't think may folks have heard this mix. I could be wrong but...

4. I think that is all. Enjoy.
